The state Racing and Wagering Board has stepped up its investigation of Bingo City in East Greenbush, authorizing the state attorney general to do a full criminal investigation that could lead to prosecution of the bingo hall, several nonprofit organizations and their principals, according to a state official.
The bingo hall is supposed to operate fund-raising games for local charities, such as schools and churches. It is regularly being used to raise tens of thousands of dollars for several obscure nonprofit organizations.
